Acer palmatum T-U
Taiyo nishiki (medium)
A yellow variegated cultivar with small leaves and twiggy growth, although quite open when young. With this variety, however, there is a bonus. Not only yellow but pink, sometimes darkening to cerise, cream/white and two tone green. Occasional shoots will be striped red and autumn colours are various shades of orange.
Large, star-shaped leaves are light yellow-green in spring with bright purple-red tips, the colour extending partway along the leaf margins. Autumn colours are gold and red on a vigorous, initially upright plant that gradually spreads to produce a distinctive, layered look.
Taro yama (small)
Narrow-lobed palmate leaves are pink-orange fading to yellow- orange in the centre of the lobes and gradually fading to light green with some colouring left at the tips. Short, thick shoots produce a stocky, rounded plant.
Tiny Tim (small)
A witch’s broom with small, bright, light apple-green leaves changing to yellow and red in Autumn. Similar to Coonara Pygmy but smaller, this cultivar produces a very dense ball-shaped plant.
Tsuma beni (medium)
Firm textured leaves emerge dark green with distinctive deep red tips. Summer growth sees the tip colour spreading round the margins and suffusing into the centre of the leaves.
Tsuri nishiki (medium)
Long-lobed, conspicuously-toothed leaves are green with a wash of light rusty-pink in spring. Autumn colours are brilliant yellow, gold and orange with splashes of red on an angular, spreading plant.
Ueno homare (medium)
A densely-branched cultivar with intense yellow leaves with red margins giving an over-all impression of brilliant burnt orange. Changing to green in the summer and bright yellow-orange in autumn.
Ueno yama (medium)
Possibly synonymous with the previous cultivar but for the time being kept separately.
An outstanding variegated cultivar, the light green leaves are variously softly speckled and blocked with a light dusky-pink interspersed with cream. As the plant matures, the leaves become extremely small and give it the appearance of being dusted with pink.
Usu midori (medium)
Orange leaves in spring gradually fade to yellow-green from the centre, leaving a thin margin of darker colour.Summer growth is deep yellow, changing to red in the autumn.
