Green Cascade (dissectum)
A seedling selection from Aconitifolium, this cultivar has large, dark green feathery leaves. Growth is almost prostrate and very vigorous when young. Typical Japonicum autumn colours of brilliant yellow, orange and crimson.
A very slow growing cultivar with bright, lime-green to yellow foliage. In full sun the leaves darken to a bright, deep butter-yellow in summer with a thin margin of pillar-box red around the lobes. The red gradually suffuses over the entire leaf to produce an outstanding autumn display.
Autumn Moon (large)
A seedling selection of Aureum, this cultivar develops shades of pink and orange when grown in full sun, whilst shaded leaves are pale yellow-green. Autumn colour is orange and red. As with the previous cultivar, the vigour of it’s early years soon disappears to be replaced by short, angular growth.
Light yellow-green leaves in spring change to a dark lime-green but all the while with a silvery sheen caused by the fine pubescence on the leaf surface. Autumn colour is brilliant red.
In this cultivar the typical nine- to eleven-lobed Shirasawanum leaves are more deeply divided. Bright green in the spring and a palette of yellow, gold, orange and crimson in the autumn. Rate and pattern of growth is similar to Aureum and Autumn Moon.
